As I mentioned yesterday in Rumor Has It Wednesday, I am a hoarder of books. I was kinda shocked to hear it put that way, but Nina Bruhns had a point when she said people who download free books and never read them are simply hoarders. I have so many that I have downloaded and haven’t read yet. I do plan to read them. But if you look at my office at home, you’ll find stacks of paperback books that I have purchased from a book store or a conference that have yet to be read.
My hoarding is not doing the author any harm. The more downloads they get the better off they are on Amazon. Just like the authors I purchase books from at conferences or book stores, they get a royalty even if I do not get to read their books right away. I eventual will…at least I hope to read them. My intentions are good. It might just take a while.
What about you? Are you a closet hoarder too? You can admit it. I won’t tell. Please tell me there is someone else out there who has this affliction?
