Recipe Tuesday

The follow recipe does not contain cream cheese, but it does have a cheesecake flavor.

Oreo Cheesecake Icebox Dessert

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 packages of Double Stuff Oreo Sandwich Cookies
  • 2 (4-serving size) boxes of cheesecake flavored instant pudding mix
  • 4 cups cold 2% milk
  • 1 (8 oz.) tub of Cool Whip
  • Chocolate Syrup to garnish

Line the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish with Oreos, breaking them to fill any gaps at edges.Whisk together 1 box of instant pudding with 2 cups of milk for about 5 minutes or until the pudding thickens and appears set. Pour the pudding evenly over the cookie layer, spreading it with a rubber spatula. Top with another layer of Oreos, again breaking them into pieces if needed to fill any large gaps. Prepare the second box of pudding with the remaining milk. Pour over the cookies, spreading evenly. Top with the cool whip. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Just before serving, garnish the top with chocolate syrup and chopped Oreo cookies.

Writing My First Series…

2012 was an extraordinary year for me – after five and half years of writing for small presses, I finally managed to break into the bigger publishers and secured contracts with both Harlequin Superromance and Kensington.

When my agent called to tell me Harlequin wanted to buy the first romantic suspense novel I had written since 2008, I literally screamed the house down! I wrote this story with Harlequin in mind but never dared hope they’d actually want to buy it. Dreams do come true!

Finding Justice is set in the fictional UK seaside town of Templeton Cove and when I finished it, I was so in love with the small cast of characters I’d created, I was eager to write a sequel. When I had written that, I was eager to write a series set in this small town that I am now one hundred percent in love with.

Luckily for me, my editor at Harlequin loves it too and the second book, A Man Like Him is coming in August, yay!

This book is also a romantic suspense and inspired by my experience being rescued by helicopter from the 2010 French floods. It was a joy to write and get all the terror and emotion my family and I went through onto the page.

Both books were contracted in 2012 and since then I am thrilled to announce Harlequin have contracted a further THREE books in the series. I could cry tears of joy just telling you that, lol! So it looks as though my beloved Templeton Cove is here to stay awhile longer. Book three is with my agent right now, with a Christmas 2014 book to follow soon.

Writing a series brings as many challenges as it does thrills, but I have never enjoyed writing so much in my entire career. I have drawn a map of the town to keep track of where everything is, as well as a list of characters and whose story I want to write in the future. I just love the choice I’ve inadvertently created for myself. Finding Justice is book one and I really hope you enjoy it enough to want to follow me on this exciting journey as the existing characters continue to grow and evolve, and the new characters get settled in.

Welcome to Templeton Cove!

Finding Justice is available now from Harlequin Superromance. Here’s the blurb and buy links:

Sunday Sundaes

This last Sunday in May did not start out well. I woke in the middle of the night with a migraine. My head hurt. My back hurt. My stomach hurt. Luckily I fell back to sleep, but slept through my alarm. My mom called at 8:33 a.m. to say they were leaving for church, but we weren’t ready to go. I got up long enough to take excedrine and went back to bed. Still not seeing clearly. Light. Sound. Movement. They all make me sick. This is not the way I wanted to spend my day. So I’m keeping this post brief. And I’m glad to say I have been over a month migraine free. Wish I could have proclaimed longer.

What are You Reading Thursday

I am reading the advanced copy of Karen Halls upcoming Christmas short story anthology Love Came at Christmas from Books to Go Now. Her first in print edition of these stories. Wow, what a holiday treat if you haven’t already gotten these gems in electronic form. The anthology includes Christmas Stockings, The Comet that Came for Christmas, and the very popular A Christmas Proposal.
