Shhhhhh …. It’s a secret. A preview of another authors work. I can’t say more than that at the moment.
The country is saddened by the news that Dr. Maya Angelou passed away today. We’ve lost a respected literary voice.
Actor Brad Pitt was punched in the face at a premiere for Maleficent by the same man who is known for his red carpet stunts. Just two weeks ago at the Cann festival the man tried to crawl under an actresses dress and in 2012 this same man kissed Will Smith.
Cold snap is over. We’re back into the 80s. Muggy. Summer showers.
Congratulations to the Seymour Senior class. Graduation is this evening.
We got up early today and went to the early service at church. I was able to do that which was great since I’d not been the last two weeks because of migraines. But I am in the two weeks of the month that I’m not having them so that helps as well. We had a good service and Sunday School was good as well.
We were back home by about 10:30 and I took a nap before we had to go for lunch at my parents. We watched the funniest movie on TCM Mr. Roberts with Henry Fonda, William Powell, James Cagney and Jack Lemon. I’d seen parts of it before but I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in a long time. They just don’t make movies like that anymore.
We had a lovely long afternoon. I ended up watching part of the NCIS marathon on USA. Then I saw the mid-season finale of Mad Men at 10 p.m. But they said the rest of the season (7 more episodes) wouldn’t air until 2015 which is peculiar since this was supposed to be the last season of the show. I’ve never seen a show do this before.
My son and I got new cellphones. His died this week and mine had been acting up for a while. I’d went through two charger cords and my phone would do crazy things when I was talking to people. So I decided it was time to get new ones. We ended up getting the same smart phone, but I got a colorful gel case for mine and I got him a case he could hook onto his belt that would also protect it. That was the best spent 2 hours working with a sales rep I’ve spent. I lowered my service plan cost and got unlimited talk and text in the process.
I also bought wallpaper and paint for my kitchen. I’m getting a new cabinet to go in there and I decided to give my kitchen a new look in the process. I’ve never tried the wallpaper that you pain before, but I found a pattern I love. It looks Victorian, imagine the patterns of wallpaper that they had in the French Quarter simple, yet elegant. You might wonder why I have to wallpaper my kitchen, why not just paint it? The walls. I live in an old farmhouse and the walls are not precisely perfect and the wallpaper hides it.
This Memorial Day weekend I’d like to dedicate this post to all our military men and women who have fought and given of themselves so that we can have the freedoms we enjoy today. All down through history these courageous men and women have given and sacrificed more than we can even begin to understand.
