What are You Reading Thursday?

I found a new author and a wonderful book this week. How? Through the May issue of InD’tale Magazine. I was flipping through when I saw a two page spread and the cover of the book caught my eye. I read a little about the book and thought it sounded interesting so I went over to Amazon and pulled it up and did a quick look inside. That look allowed me to read the first two chapters and by that point I had to know more, so I bought it.

What fabulous book am I talking about?  Neverland: Adventures in Neverland 1 by Anna Katmore. This is a young adult novel, by the way, and it is a sweet romance. I couldn’t put the book down and I devoured it in two days. Ah!  I know it took the author longer to write it but I found the characters and the situation so appealing I couldn’t stop reading. As you may suspect it is about Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and the Lost Boys. But what you don’t know is that it is also about Angelina McFarland and her love for her twin sisters and her need for family. It also gives you an insight into why Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and the Lost Boys are always fighting one another.

There is a wonderfully sweet romance within this book and a very emotional connection between reader and characters. At least I found it thus. I felt Angel’s anguish, her desire to return home even though she didn’t want to leave her new found friends. I will even admit that I found myself crying not once, but thrice before the story ended. I was totally satisfied as a reader. And I found Ms. Katmore’s portrayal of the characters and situations extremely believable. I cannot wait for book two of the series to come out.
