And the next in the series is…
Writing a series brings equal amounts of challenge and satisfaction, and when I started writing full time about eight years ago, it was a goal of mine to have an ongoing series of my own one day as I love to read series books.
Well, now I write a contemporary romance series for Harlequin Superromance and a Victorian romance series for eKensington.
When I wrote my first contemporary Harlequin novel, “Finding Justice” and my first Victorian romance “The Seduction of Emily”, neither was intended to be the debut in an ongoing series. I thought I was writing new stand-alone stories.
However, during the creation of both books, secondary characters came forward demanding their own book. That’s how my series writing came to be–simple!
My Harlequin series is set in the same UK seaside town of Templeton Cove and as I write book five, I am confident there will be many more stories to follow…if Harlequin still want them, of course J I know from comments and emails that my readers do!
The latest in the series (book 3) “What Belongs To Her” is set in the town’s fairground. These novels tend to be a romance with a hefty dose of suspense thrown in. Who can resist a villain? Not me!
As for my Victorian romances? These are set in and around the famous city of Bath, England. The secondary character in one novel becomes the hero or heroine in the next of these linked books. The latest release (book two) is centered around a prostitute who featured briefly in book one. “The Temptation of Laura” is a darker historical romance than readers usually find in the genre as the characters are struggling to escape their current lives and aspire for bigger and better things…and of course, find true love.
Book three, “What A Woman Desires” will be published by eKensington in January 2015.
I would love to know what your visitors look for in a series romance – or maybe they prefer stand-alone novels. Let’s talk!
