Book Excerpt:

Before she knew it, she ran right into Reed. “Steady, steady,” she heard him say. When she opened her eyes, she found herself practically in his arms. She looked at Reed and for a moment, she thought she was going to stop breathing. His arms were around her waist, holding her steady. Every bone in her body shivered.

“I’m sorry,” she said breathlessly. “I didn’t see you.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Reed replied and it seemed he was in no hurry to release her.

She looked at him, completely oblivious to the sounds of the children running and splashing around in the water. The drops of water from the spray gun trickled down her face. She felt Reed’s finger touch her face, tracing the drops down her cheeks, toward her chin and down her neck. Violet closed her eyes, mesmerized by the sensation of his touch. She started breathing fast and felt embarrassed that her body could betray her feelings so evidently. She opened her eyes and saw how tender Reed’s eyes were. He pulled her close and his lips almost touched hers.
