A Misty Monday

It is raining here today. Not hard, just a light misty rain is falling. We saw a little of this yesterday. My mom called it good napping weather. And I did take advantage. But I can’t nap today. I’m working. And there is lots to be done this week because I’m on vacation next. For the most part it will be a stay cation and then I’m heading to Romfest. But back to the rain.

A misty rain is good for the gardens. We had fresh green beans last week and the corn is getting tall which could mean we see ears form and ripe before the middle to end of July. That would be heavenly. Nothing is better than fresh corn on the cob. My dad is a gardener. He has four garden spots planted this year. Two behind his house, one behind mine and one behind the barn where my grandfather’s pig pin once stood. Soon we’ll have fresh okra, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, onions, and more green beans.  Nothing is better than fresh fried corn, fried zucchini with green tomatoes and onions or zucchini, onions and chunks of potato fried together with hot cornbread fresh from the oven. Yum!

  1. I’m envious of such a big garden. My pride and joy this year is a four by four plot at the side of my house. But I have beans, okra and squash, cucumber planted, with hopes of a harvest.

    1. Well it isn’t my garden, but my dad’s. I only eat from it. Lucky me! Your garden sounds small enough to manage on a busy schedule and enough for one person to eat from. My dad feeds us and provides green beans for his older sister. She cans green beans.
