I’d like to welcome our first Guest Author —Jesse Kimmel-Freeman
Hey everyone! How are you guys doing? I am existing in a state of utter and complete chaos. But you guys don’t wanna hear about that! You wanna hear about what I’m reading. As a writer, I have to spend a lot of my free time reading. I read just about anything. I also do reviews, so sometimes my reads as based on the schedule for reviews.
Right now, I’ve got 4 books I’m reading and 5 I’m writing. Can you imagine what it’s like in my head?! We won’t talk about the new books I’ve just added to my TBR pile. LOL. I just finished The Gingerbread House by Nell Carson. It’s a great little romance book- a sweet kind. A total recommend for those that like unexpected love books. I read the Intaglio Collection by Danika Stone, which was also a romance, but more intense. It’s got lots of layers to it. Oh, and Spin the Plate by Donna Anastasi. That one is a romance as well, but there is nothing
traditional about it. It’s more of a real-life romance than the typical types. I also read Pitch Green, which is a YA Horror. That was a fun read. It’s a good read for those that like books that are creepy, but not pee your pants kind of scary. I read a poetry collection as well, Stone of My Heart: One Woman’s Life Journey by Kerry Taylor. It was a powerful collection and not overly complex and drowned in metaphors. In case you’re wondering, all of these were read in the last week to two weeks. Yes, there are others as well, but I’ve never honestly written was “what are you reading” piece before. LOL… just a small confession.
I’m working hard on finishing the third book in my YA paranormal series, The Bella Vampires Series. Book 3, Bella Tristezza (it means beautiful sadness), was supposed to be released at the beginning of the year, but life has thrown some curve balls my way and I’ve had to adjust accordingly. I’m on chapter 12 of what I think will end up being 15. It’s hard being so close to the end, but not nearly there. The first one, if you guys are interested, is called Bella Notte.
Here’s the blurb for it:
“Vampires? Check. Werewolves? Check. Death prophecy to hang over your head? Double check. Seventeen year old Emma Hutchinson struggles to find her place in the world she has been born to as she tries to decide whether she should be with Michael, the boy she has been dreaming about since she was three or if she belongs with Dominic, her betrothed.”
I’m also trying to finish the second in my adult paranormal series, The Kat Purrowells Series. But Fur the Record has taken a back burner to Bella Tristezza. I’d say I have more fun writing this series because it isn’t as limited by constraints of being a YA. If you’re interested in book one, Dead to Bites, here’s the blurb for it:
“Kat Purrowells is an occult anthropologist. She thought she would be teaching what she knew at a local college, instead she was roped into working for a secretive government agency, P.N.I., Paranormal Investigations. There are murders in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California, Kat has been sent in to try and help catch these supernatural killers, but will the cost be her life?”
Well, I was always told it’s better to leave them wanting more- so I hope I’ve left you with some wants and lots of need to come back to this wonderful blog to find more hidden treasures!
