Last summer my friend Carolynn Carey gave me this recipe and I have yet to try it, but it sounded really good. So I wanted to share this with you too. If you should try it before I do please let me know. It sounds a lot like a Chess Pie to me and I love Chess Pie.
Buttermilk Pie
- ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
Cream butter and gradually add sugar. Add flour and beat until smooth. Beat in eggs until combined. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Beat well. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 400 degrees for five minutes, then reduce to 350 degrees and bake another 45 minutes or until set.
Yield: One 9-inch pie.

I can assure you that the pie is good, Leanne. 🙂 By the way, I remember you used to make a fruit pizza that I loved. How about sharing that recipe here sometime? It’s been years but I still remember how good it was.
I think you are referring to my veggie pizza. I haven’t made it in a while. I will have to do that one next week for sure.
Right! It was veggie pizza, not fruit pizza. See, I told you it had been a while since you’d brought it to a gathering. 😉 Recently I saw someone on TV making a fruit pizza. That must be what I was thinking about. But I DO love your veggie pizza.
Saved the recipe for later! Sounds yummy. Also, I do have a recipe for the fruit pizza. Will send it to you Leanne, if you like.
